# FAQ

Short answers to the questions streamers ask most about PX Studio.

## Getting started

::: faq
### Is PX Studio free?

PX Studio is in beta. There is only the Beta plan for now, and it includes every feature. Paid plans stay off during the beta. See [Plans and limits](/docs/plans-and-limits).

### Do I need to install anything?

No. PX Studio runs in your browser and your overlay runs in OBS as a browser source. Only the optional [Stream Deck](/docs/stream-deck) plugin is a download (macOS and Windows, Stream Deck 7.1 or later).

### Which platforms does it work with?

Twitch and Kick: alerts, chat widgets, goals and PXStudioBot work with both, and you can connect both at the same time. YouTube videos and songs play through the Media Player and [song requests](/docs/song-requests). See [Integrations](/docs/integrations).

### Does it work with streaming software other than OBS?

Your overlay is a normal browser source, so any streaming software with a browser source can show it. The automatic setup with OBS WebSocket and the OBS scene sync work with OBS only. See [Add to OBS](/docs/add-to-obs).

### Which languages does the studio speak?

The studio interface is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese (Brazil). Change it under **Settings** → **Account**. PXStudioBot has its own chat language on its **Overview** tab.

## Building your overlay

::: faq
### Do changes show up live?

Yes. Your overlay is one browser source, and every change in the editor arrives there by itself: new widgets, settings and scene switches. You set up OBS only once.

### Which resolution should I use?

The default is 1920 × 1080. Layouts are designed on a canvas 1920 pixels wide and scale to the output, so you can switch to 2560 × 1440 or 4K under **Canvas resolution** in the editor without moving anything. Set the browser source in OBS to the same size.

### Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. Use `kbd:Cmd+Z` to undo and `kbd:Shift+Cmd+Z` to redo (Ctrl on Windows and Linux). The overlay **History** lists every change, also those by teammates and connected apps, and can restore an earlier state. See [Editor basics](/docs/editor-basics#undo-and-history).

### Can I use my own images, videos and sounds?

Yes. Settings that take a file have an **Upload** button right in the settings card: images and GIFs for the Image widget, images, GIFs and videos for alerts, and sounds for the Sound widget, alerts and many other widgets. Files can also be uploaded through the [API](/docs/api), including videos and fonts.

### How do I make a widget look different?

Pick a **Look** in its settings card: each look is a complete style. To restyle a whole overlay at once, start from a preset. See [Looks and presets](/docs/looks-and-presets).

## Running your stream

::: faq
### Can my moderators help during a stream?

Yes. Invite them to an overlay as Moderator: they can switch scenes, update stream details, fire effects and run bot actions with their own accounts. See [Team](/docs/team).

### Can I control the overlay from my phone?

Yes. Open the [Deck](/docs/deck) on your phone for big tiles: scenes, effects, tests and giveaways.

### Why does nothing show in OBS?

Most often the browser source has the wrong size, the link was reset or the source is hidden. Follow [Troubleshooting](/docs/troubleshooting#the-overlay-does-not-show-in-obs).

## Privacy and security

::: faq
### Is my OBS link secret?

Yes. The OBS link works without a login, so treat it like a password and never show it on stream. If it leaks, use **Reset the OBS link** in the **Add to OBS** menu.

### Where is my data stored?

PX Studio is hosted by IONOS in data centers in Germany: the application, the database, uploads and backups. Details are in the [privacy policy](/privacy).

### What does Pix do with my questions?

Pix answers from these docs and works with exactly your rights. See [Privacy and AI](/docs/privacy-and-ai) and [Ask Pix](/docs/pix).
