# Stream Deck

Switch scenes and trigger widgets from an Elgato Stream Deck with the PX Studio plugin.

The PX Studio plugin puts your overlay on Stream Deck keys: switch scenes, test alerts, spin the wheel, fire confetti. It runs on macOS and Windows with Stream Deck 7.1 or newer.

::: steps
In PX Studio, open **Settings** → **Stream Deck** and click **Download PX Studio plugin**. Open the file and confirm the install in the Stream Deck app.

In the Stream Deck app, drag **PX Studio** → **Overlay action** onto a key.

Click **Connect PX Studio**. Your browser opens PX Studio. Check that the code matches the one in Stream Deck and click **Connect Stream Deck**.

Choose the **Overlay** and the **Widget or scene** the key should control. The key title fills in by itself.

Click **Try it now** to check it. It runs on your live overlay.
:::

You connect once per computer. Every PX Studio key you add after that is ready to set up right away.

## What the key tells you

A green check means the press worked. If something needs your attention, the key shows a short word with a warning sign and the key settings explain it:

- **Connect**: this Stream Deck is not connected or was signed out. Click **Connect PX Studio** again.
- **Set up**: the key has nothing to do yet. Pick an overlay and a widget or scene.
- **Missing**: the widget or overlay on this key was deleted. Pick another one.
- **Offline**: PX Studio cannot be reached. Check your internet connection.

> [!TIP]
> No browser on the streaming computer? Under **Settings** → **Stream Deck** click **+ New token**, copy it, then click **Have a token? Paste it instead** in the key settings.

> [!WARNING]
> A connected Stream Deck can fire actions in your overlays. Every connected Stream Deck is listed under **Settings** → **Stream Deck**. Remove one there to sign it out right away.
