# Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common problems with OBS, alerts, the bot and connections.

Start with the **Stream check** on the home page. It checks Twitch, Kick, both bots, your overlay and OBS and marks each one **Verified**, **Needs attention**, **Unavailable** or **Not checked**.

## The overlay does not show in OBS

::: steps
Check the browser source URL. Copy it again with **Copy OBS URL** and paste it into the source. If you used **Reset the OBS link**, the old URL stopped working.

Check the size of the browser source. It should match your overlay, by default 1920 × 1080.

Make sure the right scene is live. Only the program scene is visible in OBS; click **Make program scene**.

Right-click the source in OBS and choose **Refresh**.
:::

"Opened in a browser, not in OBS yet" means the link works but OBS has not loaded it.

Black source, no alert sound, stutter or an outdated view: [OBS troubleshooting](/docs/obs-troubleshooting) goes through each case and shows where OBS keeps its log file.

## OBS WebSocket does not connect

- "Could not reach OBS": OBS is not open or the WebSocket server is off. Turn it on under **Tools** → **WebSocket Server Settings**.
- "OBS rejected the password": copy the password from the same dialog again.
- Host and port must match the OBS settings, by default `127.0.0.1` and `4455`.

## Alerts do not show

- **Not connected**: alerts, chat and the bot need Twitch or Kick under **Settings** → **Connections**.
- **Paused**: paused alerts are dropped. Resume in the Alertbox under **Test & playback**.
- **Hidden in the editor**: **Hide stream events (tests stay)** may be on. OBS still shows alerts.
- **Event turned off**: check the **Events** section of the Alertbox.
- **Sign-in expired**: reconnect the account when the home page asks you to.
- **Event not available**: subs, Bits and Channel Points need a Twitch Affiliate or Partner channel, and Kick sends no raid events. See [Twitch](/docs/twitch) and [Kick](/docs/kick).

Use **Test alert** to see whether the Alertbox itself works.

## The bot does not answer

- "PXStudioBot is not in your chat yet": join it from the **Overview** tab of the bot panel.
- "Missing bot permission": reconnect your account under **Connections**.
- Make PXStudioBot a moderator in your chat so it can moderate.

## Still stuck
