# Counter

Count deaths, wins, kills or anything else live, with an optional goal and chat commands for your mods.

The **Counter** is a number on your stream that you change live. Count deaths in a souls game, wins in a session, push-ups for subs or anything else your community cares about. Give it a goal and it shows a meter and celebrates when you get there.

## Add it

Click **Add** in the toolbar (or press `kbd:W`) and pick **Counter** under **Games & Interactive**.

Give it a **Name**, for example "Deaths" or "Wins".

Set the **Counting tone** to match what you count: **Good (wins, kills, score)** or **Bad (deaths, losses, fails)**.

Pick a look with **Choose a look** and drag it into place.

## Control it live

Select the widget and a **Count** stepper and **Reset** appear above it. The same controls are in the [Deck](/docs/deck) and on a [Stream Deck](/docs/stream-deck), so a mod can count from their phone.

## Chat commands

The default command word is `win`. You and your mods can use:

| `!winminus` | Subtract 1 |
| `!winset 5` | Set the count directly |
| `!winreset` | Reset to 0 |
| `!winmax 15` | Change the goal |
| `!wincolor #4dabff` | Change the accent color |

Change the word under **Command word**, for example to `death` for `!death`, and who may use it under **Who can use commands**.

> [!TIP]
> **Challenges** also uses `win` by default. If you run both, give one of them a different **Command word**.

## Goals and milestones

Turn on **Count toward a goal** and set the **Goal**. The counter stops at the goal and the look shows a meter. **Milestones** such as `25;50;75;100` mark steps on the meter or show the next one. **Celebration** and **Celebrate how often** control the moment you reach it.

## Share a count

Set **Count source** to **Shared count** and give several Counters the same **Shared counter name**. They all show the same saved number, for example one big counter on your gameplay scene and a small chip on your BRB scene.

## Tips

- **Show** offers a compact **Chip (one line)** or **Number only** for tight spots.
- **Number style** can shorten big numbers (12.3k) or show a currency.
- Add a **Sound**, and turn on **Sound on milestones** for the big steps.

## Looks

Pick a look under **Look** in the settings card. Every look is a complete style; colors and fonts you set yourself stay on top. 15 looks are available:

Every chat command this widget understands, with the default command names. Values in angle brackets are placeholders, for example a number.
