Kick
Connect Kick, see which permissions PX Studio asks for, which Kick events trigger alerts, what Kick does not offer and how to fix connection problems.
On this page
PX Studio connects to your Kick channel through Kick's official public API. Kick then sends follows, subs, gift subs, KICKs, Channel Point redemptions and chat messages to PX Studio as they happen.
Connect your channel
Open Settings → Connections and click Connect on the Kick card.
Kick asks you to sign in and shows which permissions PX Studio wants. Approve them. You come back to PX Studio and the card shows Connected as your channel name.
Check the Stream check on the home page. Kick should show as verified.
Did you only sign in to PX Studio with Kick? That login reads your Kick identity and nothing else. For alerts, chat and the bot, click Connect on the Kick card once.
Kick grants the permissions as one package. When PX Studio needs a new one, the card shows Reconnect needed; click Reconnect and approve again. Disconnect stops live Kick features until you reconnect; your login stays linked.
Permissions PX Studio asks for
| Permission (Kick scope) | Used for |
|---|---|
user:read | Your Kick user name and ID |
channel:read | Your channel information, such as title and category |
channel:write | Changing your stream title and category from PX Studio |
events:subscribe | Receiving follows, subs, KICKs, redemptions and chat messages |
chat:write | Sending chat messages, including bot replies |
moderation:chat_message:manage | Deleting chat messages |
moderation:ban | Timeouts and bans |
PX Studio never asks for your Kick password or your stream key.
What triggers alerts
| Kick event | In PX Studio |
|---|---|
| Follow | Alertbox Show follows |
| New sub | Show new subs |
| Sub renewal | Show resubs, with the number of months |
| Gift subs | Show gift subs, with the number of gifted subs; anonymous gifters show as "Anonymous" |
| KICKs gifted | Show Bits and Kicks, with amount and message; counts towards Bits / Kicks goals |
| Channel Point redemption | Activity feed and Event List |
| Stream started or ended | Stream sessions and stats |
| Chat message | Chat widget, chat panel and PXStudioBot commands |
Turn each alert type on or off in the Alertbox under Events; see Alerts.
What Kick does not send
Kick's public API has no event for raids and no Hype Train. Raids on Kick therefore do not trigger a PX Studio alert. Channel Point rewards cannot fire overlay actions on Kick yet; the bot panel shows Coming soon: Kick. Kick also has no public API for past broadcasts (VODs), so PX Studio cannot list them.
Requirements on Kick
- Subs: viewers can only subscribe once subscriptions are switched on for your channel. Kick unlocks Enable Subscriptions in your Streamer Dashboard when you meet its requirements; your progress is under Achievements.
- KICKs: Kick's tipping currency. To receive them, you need Streamer status in Achievements and a completed Stripe Connect setup.
- Follows and chat work for every channel.
PXStudioBot on Kick
On Kick, PXStudioBot works through your own Kick connection: commands, timers and giveaways run as on Twitch, but replies are posted with your own Kick account. Because you are the channel owner, you do not need to make anyone a moderator for this. Join the bot from the Overview tab of the bot panel; see PXStudioBot.
If you want a moderator team on Kick, type /mod username in your chat. Only the channel owner can do this.
Limits
- Message length: a Kick chat message holds up to 500 characters.
- Timeouts: from 1 minute up to 7 days (10,080 minutes).
- Channel Point rewards: up to 50 per channel, enabled and disabled together.
- Raids (sent from your channel with
/raid): only the channel owner, only with at least 5 viewers and at most 2 raids per 24 hours.
Connection problems
- Reconnect needed on the Kick card or Reconnect Kick in the Stream check: a permission is missing or the sign-in expired. Click Reconnect under Settings → Connections.
- "Reconnect Kick to edit title": the connection lacks the permission to change your title. Reconnect.
- "This Kick account is already linked to another account.": each Kick account can belong to one PX Studio account. Sign in with that other account or disconnect Kick there first.
- "Could not join your Kick channel.": reconnect Kick, then click join again in the bot panel.
- No sub or KICKs alerts: subscriptions or KICKs are not enabled for your channel yet, or the event is turned off in the Alertbox. Use Test alert to check the Alertbox itself.
- Kick chat missing in the chat widget: Kick chat only arrives for channels connected to PX Studio.
